Tucson’s Architectural Styles

Let’s chat for a minute about the architecture style of Tucson houses.

The different architectural style periods of homes here include:

⁃ Pre-Railroad

⁃ Post-Railroad/Territorial Period

⁃ Revival Styles

⁃ Early Modern Styles

⁃ Post-war Modernism and Revival

⁃ Arts and Crafts Movement

⁃ American Vernacular

Are you aware of the difference between the “Sonoran Style” (1840s-1890) and the “Transformed Sonoran Style” (1863-1912)?

Can you spot a “Streamlined Moderne” (1930-1945) vs. “Post-war Pueblo” (1955-1965)?

Need a visual? See the illustrations in the publication “A Guide to Tucson’s Historic Neighborhoods” by the Blenman Elm Neighborhood Association.

And according to a recent study on over 76,000 U.S. homes, of the 65 different home architectural styles available to #homebuyers the most *desired* home style is Ranch Style in 19 states. Arizona is among them.
